Default Want to lift my 2000 Durango 4x4

I have a 2000 Durango 4x4 and want to lift it. i was thinking about just doing a 3 inch body lift and putting 33" Mickey Thompson Mud Terrains on it. Or buying a Rancho Lift for it and same tires but is there any cheaper lifts than spending 1 grand on it?

I liftedmy 99by turning up the torsion bars in front and made lift shackles for the rear. Got three inches and I run 33 on it with no problems. And it still rides ok also.

Want 3" without breaking the budget eh? i say 3" body and the torsion shackle lift. IMHO its the best way to go without hitting the pocket and changing the factory suspension.
Cost me around $300 total to do both. (I installed) Belltech 6400 shackles for the rear, torsion bar tighten in the front, and then body. Stay away from the suspension lifts, they are nothing special and far from being quality. (My 5.5" TC sits in my basement, waiting to go in the garbage [:@])

Dumb question here........how excatly do you tighten up the torsion bar to get 3 in out of it and were is it located? Also I noticed the 3" body lift kits say no towing because of the brackets that hold on the rear bumper....but my tow hitch is hooked the the frame, do I have any thing to worry about? Thanx guys for your understanging. Muah

Dont laugh, this is my truck and I am doing the research for my lift.

Nah, not a dumb question. I would ask too if it was my truck.
The torsion bars are located under the car, location wise underneath the seats. When 8 full turns are applied with the front end off the ground, it presets a load on the suspension which actually lifts the front end up. You dont get the full 3" of lift but it is the best cost efficient lift kit.

As for the bumper, yes our d's tow from hitches and the bumper warning is just a generic detail. Anyhow our bumpers are too flimsy to support a load and would rather have a HD hitch system. Just a heads up, our tow hitches have to be removed to replace the shackle. The left side (Driver side) shackle is close to the hitch and the bolt is too long to remove it without removing the hitch.

I have a 99 rango and getting ready to do a 3" body lift, torsion key and shackle lift and run 33-12.50-15 Super Swampers Thornbirds. I wanted to crank up the torsion keys but was told not to because it changes the front alignment and could not adjust it enough to correct it. Want to know if its true? Can someone please tell me? THANKS

no thats not true, cranking the torsion bar bolts and buying the keys have the SAME EXACT EFFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!! with one exception, the torsion keys make your wallet lighter . . .

Duranged408-what rims do you run with those 33's? I see you have an amazing back spacing! Are those 15's?

I don't agree with that.

If you move the front end T-bar's you move the front end angle regardless of anything. With that said your camber/caster/toe will be out of alignment. You would need an alignment to fix the upgrade.
