Default Overhead Console Love or Hate it

Well i used to love my overhead console but now with Gas prices so friggin high i'm starting to hate it. I have it on the average MPG for the tank. Ever since i turned it on my foot hasn't come within a mile of the floor.Any one else turn it on Kilometers just to make themselves feel better. (and no i dont want to sell it.)

It is better than nothing, plus it helps you monitor the MPG. I found out the hard way that you have to reset it each tanks. I was getting rough mileageeven after filling and driving carefully. Once I reset the computer, I got about another 2-3 MPG. I have found it to be pretty accurate. I had a 98 Jeep Cherokee that had a overhead console with a instantenouscalculation, so going downhill and no throttle, I could get a momentary input of 45+ mpg, it made me felt good, but once it leveled off it went right back to the average. Apparently Chrysler took that feature out of all the trip computers. I use my o/h console regularly I scroll between all the features, trip odometer, I use the instrument panel odometer for segment mileage and the o.h. odometer for the total mileage. MPG and distance to empty. I use the compass/temp but not as much as the other screens. I am sure it is not the most advanced trip computer out there, but it works pretty good in my D, and when you monitor the MPG and DTE at these prices every little bit helps to monitor. I have also found myself using the cruise a lot more to trim out speeds and tweak the mpg/dte. Hope this helps.
