Towing Questions
99 Durango,5.2
I was reading my manual on towing and it says to install 3 relays. It says to install them to activate the towing package. I have after market towing hitch, wiring and trans cooler on the D, not the factory stuff. Do i really need to install these relays to tow, how would it affect my towing if not installed, and why cant they be left in. The relays missing are
12. 40 amp W/trailer 50AMP W/ electric fan
27. Trailer relay $18 not in stock
32. RAD FAN Select Relay $86 not in stock.
Im leaving tonight to go pick up a car 500 miles away so i need info fast if anyone has any.
Thanks
Ryan

I think those relays only relate to the added electric cooling fan to assist with the clutch fan. If you do not have the electric fan on your D, I think these steps do not apply to your aftermarket setup.
Just watch your engine temperature, if your towing something that nears your towing limit and driving slow speeds, your D can overheat. Thus I think that is why they are talking about the added electric cooling fan setup.
I would have your fan clutch inspected before you make the tow trip.
