Transmission coolers
Been reading alot and came across Jasper transmissions page.. They said they would not warranty the transmission unless there was a new cooler installed, well I read here that the transmission cooler is at the bottom of the radiator.. Well could I just bypass the cooler in the radiator and install a transmission cooler outside the condenser? The one i was looking at has a 30,000lbs (never pull that much lol) with a fan from Jegs.. Or would it be just better to get a new radiator with a beefier cooling system? any suggestions on tranny coolers that have been proven to work with a 99 Durango system also would be appreciated..

I would not bypass the cooler in the radiator. Just install the new cooler outside thecondenser and tap into a line. you can spend as much money as you want but the whole idea is to add cooling capacity, not take it away, any extra cooling capacity is better that none. A lot would depend on how much towing you want to do and how your truck is setup. Mine is factory, 5.9L engine, 3.92 axle ratio, 4spd 46re transmission,auxiliary transmission cooler outside the condenser, tow package and is rated to tow 7800#. All depends on how much weight you want to tow and how far you want to tow it.

Do not install around the radiator. The radiator also helps to heat the fluid when it is cold outside to warm the trans. Just install a secondary cooler inline before it returns into the cooler. You are still wrong. 7550 lbsfor the 2wd not the 4X4. it is 7300 lbs for the 4X4. Look at the top of page 5

The Factory tow package = trans lines enter the rad, exit the rad to the aux cooler in the front lower pass corner of the rad, exit the cooler and run back under the D to the trans.
You use both.
