Question 2001 RT misfiring?? Please help

I have had my Durango since it only had a few miles on it and love it dearly.

Lately it has been acting up. It is a 5.9 V8 and has 90,000 on it.

It started with not starting in the morning (after a 13hr night shift) about a month ago. I tried jumping and all, the fuel pump worked fine, it would not start. I did notice the VERY first time I tried to start it, not expecting it to not start, that a little puff of smoke? came up from the front passenger side near the front of the hood?? Then it was fixed that afternoon by just jumping it and keeping the gas down, even with the brake... Which is tricky in traffic, after that trip home (about ten miles) it ran fine and started fine. A few days after that I noticed when the RPMs got over 3 on the interstate I heard some backfiring? or sputtering, which it did when it was finally started that afternoon a month ago.

Well this morning (9/9) again would not start. It was jumped and all that again and no start, then at 6pm it started, ran hard and is still running hard, not right and doing the backfire/sputtering thing again if you rev it up.

Any suggestions? Any tips. I love my truck and you guys on here have rescued me EVERY time!!

When was the last time a tune up as part of maintenance. Including O2 sensors.
