Default Blown Tranny Seals???

Hello,

I have been having some tranny problems as of late (slipping occa. Checked the fluid and it was quite low. Filled it up. Tranny works good. However leaking bad from where tranny connects to engine. Took it in to transmission shop and they are recommending a full rebuild??? Anybody know what causes the seals to go?

Does this automatically mean a rebuild or is it possible it just needs new seals?

It was working fine again once the fluid was topped up.

Dude from what you say I'd just go new seals for now. If the slipping continues then look into a rebuild.

Ya, Rebuild is ok because you let-r-down but if they go down that far they have to pull it. Flip the coin.

There is a lot of info on here about rebuilding the trans so search for it in the 1st generation D and read it over real good first.
