The 46-RE is a 4 speed trans. Basaiclly 1st, 2nd, 3rd, OD. There is no 4th gear then OD! There is only 4 gears and that is it!

If you lock your towing feature in on on the the shifter then you also have a lockable torque converter that comes standered 46-re and this is what is messing with your head.....LOL

There is slipage when in normal opperating procedures and this is why the lockable torque converter was chosen for towing via the 46 re trans. Here is some info that you should look over:

The bands can be adjusted on the 46-RE. The best thing to do is do a fluid/filter change and then a band adjustment when doing this procudure.

If you search on the 46-RE in the 1st generation Durango section lots of questions can be answered. Try different spellings like 46 re or 46re or 46RE or 46-re
