Default weird won't start electrical issues.

Hi all I did a search and couldn't seem to find this anywhere if you have had this question I applogize. Tonight my wife and I went to petsmart to look at some of the rescue animals and when I went to leave my durango seemed to be totally dead but then the juice would come back. I have had not had any isssues with it before tonight.... no lights nothing DEAD feeling. but then a clicking noise came from the glove box (pretty loud), I Tried to jump my car but nothing. I finally got it to turn over jumping it but had to hold my foot down on the gas pedal then it died. I couldn't get it start again after that . Called Tripple A they tried to jump and and it was able to start with their power but same as before had to hold my foot on the gas or it died. I ended up towing it down the street to a mechanic. I am going to go over in the morning and swap out the battery to see if that might do anything, he is closed and won't be back till monday so If I could get it running before he gets back will save me some cash and him some hassle, he just swapped the engine out about 2 months ago and he is tired of seeing my truck and my face LOL. when I had the ignition on acc mode I could play the radio and the lights would come on but if I turned on the headlights everything would cut out or if I tried to start it it would click then go dead then eventually things would come back. wierdest thing was with the door open the light in the glove box would blink makeing a weird clicking noise and I turned the key forward I could hear a clicking noise in the engine compartment comeing from where the relay switchs are. Anyone else had this issue and what did you do to solve it.

thanks

Sounds VERY similar to the problems I had after I pulled my dash for the heater core and then forgot to re-connect the ground for the computer by the glove box area. It made crazy noises and light were going crazy. The ground is located behind the passenger kick panel which is easy to remove. It is clearly bolted to the metal. That would be the forst place to check IMO.

The first check should be the battery connections, they are corroded or are loose. If the battery connections are solid then check your grounds. I am sure it's at the battery though. If the starter cannot get the juice everything shuts down for a few seconds. It's happened to me a few times as my battery connections were getting old and weak from pulling the battery cables to work on the D. Make sure to pull the connectors from positive and negative and clean them up well with baking soda and water also clean the battery posts (make sure the battery caps are sealed well and be as neat as possible, no need to wipe out the battery) rinse off the battery and terminals then put them on and make sure they are tight. Afterwards get some terminal grease, axle grease, or vaseline to cover the connections to prevent corrosion.

Do you have any green crud on the terminals? If so the AAA guy that gave you a jump should get out of the biz now...

Go get a battery terminal cleaner and throttle body cleaner...

I had my battery die on me because one of the cells was completely dry. I changed the battery and it WOULD not stay started... I cleaned the throttle body and runs like a champ now! I think that with the new learning of the PCM, you are getting too much fuel and not enough air when you take your foot off of the throttle... This can be because of gunk on your throttle body...
