Default REAR LEAF SPRING Question???

My '99 D went for its safety today, and the mech. said that he thought the rear leafs were bad or bent at the front perch. He said that the front of the spring arched up first then down. It was my understanding that the leafs in the Durango were designed that way for ride quality-even the dealer brochure says something about an "S-shaped single rear leaf for manuverability". I've seen springs sag before and its usually at the rear perch that they bend. Also, if the springs were "bad"- wouldn't the rear end sag? my D's seems to sit up ok. Can anyone offer there knowledge on this or can you post a picture of your D's rear springs? thanks--Brian

Tell him although it looks awkward, the shape is right. You are correct with the "S" shape identification. It was designed to make our d's sit lower (easier access for people) as well as prevent wheel hop and make the ride 3x as smooth.
