Default Transmission Error Code after tranny shop?

I have a 2001 Durango 5.9 4WD... The transmission was overheating and lost overdrive around June of this year ... Took it to the tranny shop and they replaced several solenoids.. I believe one was the overdrive lockup solenoid .. They replaced a total of 4..

After all this I had the same problem .. overheat and then wouldn't go into overdrive (Trans Temp would come on) After the 2nd visit to the tranny shop I started getting the P1740 Manufacturer control Transmission code

I looked thiscode up and it looks like it is realated to the tcc or o/d solenoid..

Shortly after I started getting these and the tranny still overheated I replaced the Transmission oil cooler for a bigger aftermarket one...

It was plugged and I have driven over 5,000 miles and no problems at all out of it ...

I still get the error code with Check Engine Light every other day ..

Any idea why I would get this error and the tranny is doing ok ? I have had this code come up for the last 6 months ... I reset and it comes back in about 100 miles or 2 days ..

The shop may have used the wrong tranny fluid and that causes all sorts of problems like this. I am speaking from experience on this one. My tranny was rebuilt at AAMCO and they used ATF + 3 which is no good on our transmissions. It needs to be + 4. You should go back to them and check to see what kind of fluid they used on it.

I was running Royal Purple in it before and had no problems .. I asked the guy to atleast put synthetic back in it .. so who knows .. I wonder if I do a fluid and filter change if that would help the code or is there damage done?

Thanks

It couldn't hurt to give it a shot.
