98 durango cyl.5 misfire
Hey yall- I am new to this sight and hope that I can get some help.
my wife has a 1998 durango 5.2L. A month ago or so it started to misfire finally the light came on and it said cyl.5. thought that was a lil wierd since about a year ago I changed the plugs, wires, cap, rotor. well, I went ahead and put a bottle of Sea Foam in it to see if that would help, it didn't. the light went out and haven't had a code flash up since.
I did change the plugs, and they all looked good. I have yet to change the cap, rotor, and wires. The problem still exists. BUT, it will only start to misfire, cut out, almost completly stall after the car has been warmed up. any thoughts out there?
thanks-
scouty

Wait until it gets dark out and mist the wires with a spray bottle (you may not even need to do this) to check for arcing. You should also do a compression test. If these things don't yield any answers swap the #5 injector to the other side of the engine and see if the problem follows it. If it does replace the injector.
