4.7L Tick ?

it dosnt have Cap an Rotor .. it has indv. Coil packs over each plug .. and i changed the #6 out cause it was coming back as a miss fire in #6 after i changed the Coil pack no change .. tested new and old with Ohm meter... as well as the Rest and was getting about 1ohm i belive it was .. as far as intake leak ? maybe .. im trying to get a Propane torch now .. but dont know how to explain the sounds of the Tick other than when it idles is a tick .. and when ur driving it feathering the gas sounds like a tick but when have way down sounds like a popping .. and when you get on it full bore sounds like a popping untill about 2500-3000r's ? then you cant hear anything thats why im getting confused .. the Engine has a 157,000 miles but when i got it last year had 126,000 miles had same noise but now i "think" or jus parinod that its getting worse .. now as far as i know the 4.7L has the Cams ? Right under the Valve cover and the Lifters or Tappits sit their .. ? haha if im not Explaining stuff to well please let me know ... haha im not that Smart ! lol thanks guys

I hate to say it Digger, but with those plugs at such a wornout wide gap-you may have another bad coil pack=try swappin packs such as 1 to 4 vs versa and see if the tick changes.....have you ever replaced the I.A.C. motor or the T.P.S. sensor?---this vehicle is a manual trans?------Mine is a 99 with a dizzy{distibutor<coined that term from another peep}I didn't realize they coil packed em .....One other thing what type of sparkplugs did you put back in?....Are you getting a "No Bus" message on the odometer when it dies?

Yes i tryed changing the Coils and check them all they were all about 1 ohm i belive i even have the Spare one ... No i dont have a manual Trans its an auto ... but a badass Exhaust so i like to down shift and get the nice loud sound out for everyone to hear lol .. the Spark plugs i used denso irridams (SP?) and no im not getting ne thing when dies and yes they did Indv coil packs on the 4.7l 2000 and up the 4.7 comes with more hp/ rwh than 5.2 ..... yay lol but more Complex motor and understanding hahaha internal timing chain that riuns on the cams inside the valve covers :S

How bout adjusting the tps sensor to a higher voltage by slotting the mounting holes=I've heard voltage about 1.7 at idle=better performance>mine sits at .6 at idle----when your engine braking for your loud exhaust note-the computer sees the tps at .6v and the engine rpm's at around 2500 to 3000 depending on what rpm and how fast your going=maybe the comp throws the truck into limp mode and causes the stall..
what is the engine rpm when you put it in 1st?
what is the engine rpm when you put it in 1st?

okay .. well about the Stalling i dont think it had anything to do with loud exhaust cause it was dyin out before it was put on .. 2nd today i went out with propane torch and went all around intake Man. and and all Vac lines and couldnt find a leak at all ? so im still Stumped on the tick tick tick lol i jus wanna pull out my hair .. and i dont know about the R's .... when in first sorry

When you drop it into 1st at a high rate of speed your tach will go pretty high it may confuse the computer because the throttle position reads neutral but the rpm's don't match and it could be flooding the engine out and I bet you have valvetrain damage from doing this.....going into 1st at even 30mph puts alot of strain on the motor....It's made for emergency braking and even then your supposed to use 2nd then 1st,neutral and the e-brake to get the vehicle to stop in case of brake failure etc...Valvetrain is probably damaged hence the tick..Good Luck
