Default It was

The noise that i payed the most attention too was the lifters....it was loud. I talked to a shop and told them what was up. He the mech said well if you were running at about 130 degrees the oil never heated up...so the oil was thicker and was taking the place of the bearings. that is why then you changed out the t stat to 195 degrees you got the lifter tick right away. the oil heated up quicker and did not cushion as well. who knows how long they where like that.

You were running at 130 degrees for sure... right on the way to 195. There is no way your D stopped at 130 BTW regardless of conditions.

As for the lifters, if they were that noisy and you found parts in the bottom... I agree. Junk it and start with a replacement motor. Who knows what that one has been through.
