Default Lift!!!

Hey I'm new around these parts and I've got a couple of questions. First, what kind of lift kits do you guys like on the 2000 Durangos (5.9V8)? Secondly, is there a CHEAPER way I can lift this sucker up? Seeing how I'm still in school, I am kind of on a limited budget. THANKS!!!

$29 for a full 2" lift from Autozone! Do a search for my name and "shackles". Or maybe just "Autozone Shackles"

I don't have a limit as to how high I want to take it. And are those "shackles" sturdy? I would hate for something like that to be poorly built. As for where I live, I live in Greenwood. Where are you located Indy?

Mine have held up to two 2 hour sessions of some pretty massive off-roading... And about 15k miles street.... No problems as of yet!

Awesome! I don't plan on doing excessive off-roading anytime soon (dad bought the truck and would KILL me!). But those sound pretty cool. Did you do the install yourself? If so, how difficult was the install? Also, do you have any pictures?

No pictures of the install for a how to, but I can go snap some right now... Yes, I did the install myself... Hardest part is taking the trailer hitch off (if equipped.) Remove the hitch, spare, jack up the vehicle and support with jack stands... Remove the old shackles, remove lower shock bolt, install new shackle and install shock bolt... It was a bit difficult for me to get the spring in the right position... Had to have my dad help pull the spring downward to get it at the lowest hole possible... I'll go get some pics right now... They should be up in the next hour...

Not a very good before and after, yet it is a before and after... Maybe you can use the tires/wheels and some body lines to get a good idea of how much it was lifted...

How hard was it to turn the Torsion Bolts and did you have to lift the front as well to relieve any pressure to do this?

You WILL want to have a 1/2" drive breaker bar and yes, lift the front and support it with jack stands... Some say it helps to spray with penetrating lube a day or two before, but my vehicle was showroom clean when I bought it just 8 months ago! 82k miles and it was STILL showroom clean... I took it's dirt virginity...
