Rear Diff is this normal
I have a 2000 Durango with a limited slip. If you come to a stop sometimes it will make a clicking sound from the left and right rear wheels. The sound will fade out as you pick up speed. If you make a right or left turn it will make the sound every time. I thought maybe the brakes dragging checked out ok. Drained the Diff. and it looked like chocolate milk with some grey slug on the magnet. Then I noticed that with the vehicle in park I can spin the rear tire and the other tire turns as well, now I knew it would do this in neutral but should it do this in park? So my question is have any idea what the clicking is and yes I checked the u-joints. And should I be able to spin the tires in park. Thanks for the help I did try the search but didn’t have much luck.

Replace the fluid (80W-90) and don't forget the friction modifier (.25 pts.). Could just be slippage due to the lubricant. Drive like 100 miles or 200 and pull the fluid again to flush it. Then install a good Mobil-1 or GOOD other NAME BRAND and use Fully Synthetic and include the friction modifier. One of my friends once had the same problem and he used 2 shots of friction modifier and toool care of the problem for a good 50k and he sold it still running great.
