radiator flow?
I don't understand how my radiator works. The top left inlet looks normal but the higher than center outlet looks wrong. Seems like the bottom half of the radiator would have somewhat stale coolant and most of the circulating would only occur across the top. Could someone splain how this would work as good as a radiator with a top left inlet and a bottom right side outlet?
That is the correct OEM replacement style radiator. The lower of the two outets is the cool/return side. The uppermost is the hot/enterance side. It will only drop into place one way when placing it back in. The tanked area on the return side is open to the rest of the radiator ONLY at the bottom. It then allows the cooled coolant to cycle all around the transmission cooling lines (your red caps) and then up and back into the engine.
Indeed... if the return side was all open to the entire unit, the lower section would be useless. Isn't that way inside though. It's engineering, engineering.
