Fuel injection issues help!!
I am in the military travling cross country with the family and now have a huge problem. I have a loss of power and backfires on the highway so I pulled of the nearest exit and plugged in the code reader with the following results:P0205,P0202,P0302, and P0174. It looks like i might have got bad gas and now have some bad injectors. It is sunday so I mut wait until tommorrow for a dealership to look at it. Any suggestions?
We need to know the year and engine you have on your D to help in full BTW.
I am not double checking your codes, so I'll take your word on it that it is the TPS.
The TPS is the Throttle Position Sensor. Easy, EASY swap if you have a replacement, and a simple idea of where it is. It's located right near/on the throttle body. Two allen bolts usually and unplug the old one, replace and you are done. Most TPS are drivers side, center mounted on the TB. Less than $100 for the part and less than 30 minutes TOTAL on the swap.

Worth a shot.
The TPS is on the driver's side. You'll need a #25 torx driver. Take a look at the link for a picture and additional directions.

TPS is the top right hand sensor in the picture.

If there is a parts shop (like an Auto Zone) down the road, take the D and swap the sensor in thier parking lot. There you will have access to anything you will need.
Be careful on taking out the little screws. You want them to put the TPS back on of course and a dropped one could be a lost one. Also, I snapped one off so be careful.
Good luck!

I just replaced the TPS and put some sea foam in the gas tank. I know there is going to be some carbon built up on the injectors so how far should I test ride it before packing the family and hitting the road tommorrow afternoon. I cleared the codes and ran it down the road 4 miles and back. Seems to run maybe ok but still a little smoke when I get on it. Any advice?
Took it for a 15 min ride and it runs but still ruff, idle is still ruff and check engine light came back on so I check it when I returned to the hotel and it is still running lean on bank 2 and miss fireing on a couple of cylinders.
I guess its to the shop tommorow
