I'm not sure how "rare" it is..

But my '00 D has the 3rd row seating.. 3 in back, 3 in middle, 2 up front.

I thought that was part of the SLT designation? But I'm not expert...

The 8 passenger Durango is indeed rare. 8 passenger is obtain when you purchase a Durango with front bench seats instead of the dual bucket seats with center console.

3 up front, 3 in 2nd row, and 2 in 3rd row.

To date, I have yet come across a Durango with front bench seats.

I sold cars for 8 years and never saw one. I did see a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 5 speed manual. Wanna talk about rare?

At times, I would love to have a split 40/20/40 front seat just like the pics shown by Bparina. I don't care too much for the center console and would prefer my wife to be next to me instead!

I was not aware of a front bench seat model on the Durango.. I remember the advertisments for it stating 3 passenger 3rd row seat making it a 8 passenger vehicle.

http://consumerguideauto.howstuffwor...ge-durango.htm

I could be wrong. but thats how I remember them advertising 2 up front, 3 back seat, and 3 rear seat.

when i bought the thing the salesman said "oh ya know never seen an 8 passenger" this is from a dodge dealership too and it was listed on the sticker as a 7 seater i thought he was blowing smoke up my *** to buy the thing. i will tell you though one of the problems wit it though is it kinda hangs over the seat and cuts down the room a bit. anyone wanna swap

bp,

Yours is the third I've seen in 9 years. Nice find and unique. I don't think it adds to the value as in a collectors item or anything, however it is a very unique and not often seen setup. I have never seen the 8-seater on the new interior, however. It was always on the older 1998-2000 interior. Yours is the first I have seen on the 2001-2003s.

One of the 8-seaters also had the rare v-6 motor. What do you have under the hood?

Do you mind if I share your photos over on the DOC? TIA,

IndyDurango

The front bench seat was an option for the sport model that year for $150. Most people chose the bucket seats for comfort and console for usage though so thats why its not a common thing to be seen running around also i think the majority of them ran the 4.7Ls
