Well, the seemingly inevitable happened to me thr other day. My D's tranny started acting up. I was driving to work, and i was noticing the shifting points were weird. I wasn't shifting out of first until i hit 30mph, or about 3000rpms. Does any body have any helpful advice?

 

Wow, sounds like governor actuator switches may be bad. Did you get a CEL?

 

my thought also is the CEL on?
Autozone and other parts stores do a free scan as a customer service just post any codes pxxxx someone will advise.

You did check the fluid level? color?
I always ask ....vehicle is STOCK??

Governor switch like Kensai said.

Also might want to do a fluid check.

Fluid /Filter/ and band adjustment. No adjustment for the 4.7L

 

No to the CEL question. And it is a 2000 5.9L

 

I had a situation last month were my tranny was acting.. weird.

I don't do automatic transmissions.. they are black magic voodoo to me. That being the case, I took it to AAMCO.

Turned out it just needed a linkage adjustment.

 

Pull the Govenor solenoid.

Do the trany tune up like I said.

Though after re-reading the OP, my problem was a bit different. It would start in first, up shift, but then appear to not shift any more. It felt like it was slipping.

But then again, Tranny's is da voodoo mon...

In my situation, the money spent having it checked out by someone who knows what they are doing is priceless to me.

 

Thanks for the help fellas. I'm just taking my Dango to AAMCO tomorrow, but they'll probably be closed. Any idea of how much something like that will cost?
