Question 4WD Dash light on '99 Durango 5.9L

Hello from Canada. Just bought a '99 5.9L. It's American model as it's not Metric and has 64,XXX miles on it. It works great but when I pull the 4WD lever from 2H to 4H or 4L the lights don't come on in the dash. I assume because it's a manual 4WD shift that it's engaged and just a bad sensor.

Any help would be great!

There is a selector switch sensor that is to blame.

On the trasfer case by the selector shaft. It's not hard to find.

Found it! Now my question is when I pull that sensor, will a bunch of fluid run out?

ok, so I found the wrong sensor. I new it was too easy that the sensor would be on the bottom of the case...of course it's on top! do I have to drop the case to change this sensor or does anyone know any tricks???

Thanks

You might need to pull the block out and drop it down far enough to get to it. With a skinny arm and a mirror. Never done it before myself, (paid for it) but it shouldn't be that hard if you start with a couple of shots of wiskey.......LOL

It looks like it's on top so fluid loss shouldn't be much if any. It works by linkage not fluid.
