Default New Flowmaster.....

New to this Forum and I shall add pictures later but I have a real quick question for you on here. I have a 2003 SLT Durango. Pearl White and Platinum trim, all black leather....loaded and LOVE it. I looked for 6 months until I found her with 69,000 miles. Now for the question. I have been searching for the right exhaust and have decided to fo with Flowmasters 50 series. The guys that are doing it have said they will for 450. That includes 3in. from the cat to the tips.Duels "I know some dont agree with that but I like the way it looks and sounds".Straight 3 in Stainless rounded tips.IS this a good bargain? The guys are custom benders and have drag cars and custom cars in there garage. I have seen there work and they are top notch and stand by there work. The more replies the better. Thanks

Welcome tucker! You'll find alot of great info here. I bought my D used and the previous owner had a Flowmaster installed. I thought my then infant son wouldn't like it but he got so used to the deep rumble that he falls asleep right away when he gets in the D now!...LOL...

If you are dead set on duals, no problem. No real gain however other than looks. Price is fair for all the work and bending. A good shop can do it allowing you to keep your spare tire intact.

IMHO, single in single out. Keep the stocker Cat (no need to change it) AND keep the stocker pipes (no need to change them for a full "cat back system" either.) Simply cut out the old muffler, weld in the new one and finish with a nice double walled, rolled tip.

On the Flowmaster, I strongly suggest the Series 50 SUV. Do not get the Series 50 Delta.

If you go the route above, tip/muffler/a foot or so of additional pipe needed (stocker muff is a long sucker that needs an added section of pipe when putting in an aftermarket model) and the muffler can all be done for under $200.

The only reason for a full cat back system is if there is damage to the existing piping, or if you are showing off the bottom of the D at car shows, etc.

Hell I got my OG FM40 done for $125.00 out the door. Call around and get some quotes don't just jump right into the first shop that says they'll do it. If you want all the extra pipe work $450 sounds reasonable butI'm happy with everything else being stock. I won't get anything else until I go with some headers and maybe a turbo. (that is if I can't get a CTD in this sucker one day)

I think duals might be overkill. I cut out the OE muffler and put a Flowmaster 40 series in with an extension in for just over $100.

Why?

I have the Flowmaster 50 Series Delta Flow and love it. All stock piping, cat still there, just had the muffler replaced. Very low, mellow rumble with just enough attitude to make you smile but not be a bother on long trips.

Default Where at in NC

I work for the GOV.T in Greensboro,Live in Burlington, grew up in north Raleigh and my GF lives in Hope Mills so I get around the Triangle pretty often.I know of Clayton and have some friends that live in the area....Ayscue's. That was for you SEAN...... I just put in my order for the exhaust system so as soon as everything gets here and its installed I'll put up some pictures. The owner and his son will be doing my system and they have said since i have been going back and forth with decisions on this they are going to hook me up,"I have no idea what they have in store for my girl".The name of the company is Metal Worx Inc.and to give you guys an idea of there work, they have a spot at SEMA for next year with a twin turbo charged ford 4.6 that they have custom bent everything for. I know its a ford engine and custom truck and this is a DODGE site but you should see that beast. I'll put pictures up of it as well. Thanks for all the input guys, where would some of us be with out the sites such as this one and Dodge Talk?

My 50 Delta was much louder than my 50 SUV. Too much so. Then the Delta developed a rattle with an internal triangle baffle coming loose, so FM replaced it under warranty. So I guess it's based on personal preference and experience. If its working good for you, great!

I run MagnaFlow 24" SS series and love it. Had the regular 24" before and built got it and the piping done in that Galvanized steal thats about 2.5 percent thicker than OEM and has the anti-corrosion properties.

Last year I was talking to my friend that owns Mr. Muffler in SLC, UT look at it because it was getting louder and resonating and the beast was up for inspection (no emissions here.....LOL) and the internal components were coming loose as well as rust had started on the weld points.

Got it replaced under warranty for $50 labor only and the replacement was SS. The piping is still in near perfect condition after 4 years.

The original build up was done about 4 years ago for $278 out the door 3" CAT back and in single. With P&P heads, Custom Intake, and 52mm Fastman TB it takes all the air I give it with 2.5psi back pressure.
