cranking torsion bars to get a lift?
does any one know how to get say an inch of lift from cranking the torsion bars on a 2001 durango 4x4 4.7l? thanks or is there some magical easy way to get some lift?
Get on the ground, look at your front a-arms, follow the big rods back under, at the end you'll find the adjuster bolt.. On that note, adjusting the torsion bars are best done with the front suspension unloaded (Front tires off the ground fully extended). Also any adjustments made wont show correct height till you ride it down the road and cycle the suspension some.
I have always heard to turn the tbars with the wheels on the ground. Dunno.
Also note, you always finish turning UP. Go down past the desired height and raise it back up a quarter or half a turn to set the position.

You want the load off it!
You turn it to get your height then drive it just as 408 indicated. Measure with a measuring tape from the ground to the fender to ensure the height you want.
Remember to get a 4 wheel alignment after the set point because you will be out of camber after the final set point.

No add a block since the rears are sua (springs under axle), but since we talked about lifting on the other post you could just go a full 8 turns and use belltech 6400 rear shackles or eqiv and be even at 1.75"/2"
