Default Transforming to old into new.

I'm happy to have found this forum. I'm currently contemplating renewing my truck with modifications and upgrades. I would rather invest in my loyal woman then go out and find a new one. She's never let me down and has always kept me safe.

I have a 2000 Durango with the 5.2l. 4x2. I'm going to strip out everything I've done and start from scratch. That being the sound system and the halo headlights. From there these are the things which I want to accomplish:

Hood: A new hood. I would perfer an all steel hood versus fiberglass.

Rims: I don't want to be flashy. I like the R/T rims but they seem to be hard to find. The 20 inch replicas I can only find for 1200. More then I care to spend on rims not including tires.

Shocks: Its time for some new ones. Which do you recommend? I tend to always get the heavy duty shocks from Autozone when I change them out on previous vehicles. The onew with the shock inside of a spring.

Bodykit: To go with the new hood. She needs a new shape. She came without the fender flares sp will try to find the oem flares to go with a good body kit. I've been trying to learn the difference between urethane and fiberglass. Are there any ABS kits out there?

Engine Upgrades: I don't know what to do there just yet. She has 130k miles on her so I'm not sure if the engine would be happy with upgrades or not at this age.

Paint and interior will come with all of that. Those are the major points though. Also would installing an upgraded brake system i.e.:bigger calipers, bigger rotors...would they be worth the money?

Thanks for everyone that reads my post and more so for those who respond. I have a limited budget by will make it work by taking my upgrades in stages.

I'm thinking about waiting on the exhaust. If I go with a body kit then the exhaust pipes will have to be fabricated to fit into any change in location. Why do you suggest a high flow cat and catback system? I remember reading that the stock cat and pipes are good for a little over 300hp. Is that not true? I'm asking because there is a bit of money to be spent in those added components when they might not be needed. I do agree on the headers and muffler though.

hmm let me see those head lights.. i may be interested.. but i'm not sure. as far as the other stuff.. intake and exhaust is always a good start for performance on these things.. and if you play with the intake might as well get the TB from the link above. If you are willing to be my guniea pig i'll build you a short ram CAI intake for your D.. i have a few designs I want to try and see which provides better power vs work done.
if you want any lighting done let me know and i'll help you thru it.. i've built alot of kits for people in the past.

I recomend Bilsteins.

You are talking about struts, the ones with the springs. You just need shocks on the Durango. Pretty easy to do yourself too.

P.S. your font is VERY hard to read.

+ 1 on the font. I thought about posting about it twice already. NOW, I'll join the party.

Font and font size sucks BTW. No need to be different.

+1 Indy<----------LOL

Now with that said I'm drinkin so stay with me........LMAO!

1. Change out the muffler.
2. I like Edelbrock IAS Performer Shocks,
3. LED 1 piece Halo head lights and LED tail lights are a nice add.
4. Not many kits out there.
5. Upgrads on the engine and trans are a must.
6. Brake pads and rotors are worth it but the OEM calipers are fine.
