I had an Pontiac Grand Am (1999) that had a factory installed alarm. It was dead one mourning (pun) about two weeks of purchase. Got it back from the dealer who claimed i left a light on, although it had circuit disconnect (shut off fuse so that not to drain battery). Well, that night I locked the doors in the garage, which arms the alarm and the headlights blink and then the interior lights come on. Dead battery the next morning. The alarm was shorting the wiring and was finally fixed after the third time after I toldthem to keep it (lemon law). No more Pontiacs for me,
FF

20 amp's.....WOW!

Sounds like the starter solenoid was pulling the amps. Hopefully the aftermarket alarm was the culporate and causing this issue.

In other news......... Auto Zone can check your starters, batteries, and alternators.

Default Problem Fixed

Well it's been 5 days and now I'm convinced that the problem was the alarm. I must have re-connected something on the alarm brain box that wasn't connected before (I was doing some other work). This drained my battery and caused all the problems. I even put the original ignition switch back on. The truck is working normally now. Thanks for the help everyone.
