4.7 Identification?

Hey Gang,

I have a 2002 Durango 2wd with 4.7

Can I use the following method to identify if I have a 16 or 32 tooth engine?

"Find your engine controller in the engine compartment on the passenger fender. If you have 3 32 way connectors on the controller you have the older Chrysler JTEC controller, if you have four 38 way connectors you have the later NGC. If you try to install the wrong engine in yours it won't start. You would have to tear the engine down and swap the cam sprocket tone wheels to get it to run."

Thanks,
Trent

This is the truth although it is a 16 and 32 prong connector. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...oth-crank.html

Now I've also heared that you can look at the harness on the trany and see the 16 or 32 pin input I think, but it's been a long time. I don't have my service manual right now so I can't help you other than search in the forum.
