the white/yellow slime is commonly referred to as snot. It is a result of condensation not being completely evaporated out of the engine while its running ( a good long run on the highway is necessary, lots of short trips cause it), it is NOT something worth worrying about.

the ticking hydraulic lash adjusters is NORMAL on the 4.7 for a minute or so after a cold start, i would not worry about it.
