Angry Differential is Scrap

Hi,

I've just confirmed with the main dealer here in Riyadh that (yes) they failed to add the friction modifier to the differential when they changed its oil some 10,000 km ago.

The differential is now junk as it makes such a noise...

The service manager is away until after the Eid holiday (Ramadan) and he's the only one who can ok a warranty rebuild. The British expat who used to run the Chrylser franchise here was fired a couple of months ago after 8 years service for being photograped at an embassy party holding a drink...

F*@k 'em all...I've had with them...

Worst scenario is that I will have to install a complete back axle off a wreck...now does anybody know if a back axle from a 4WD D (the only ones left in the yard) will fit a 1999 2WD D assuming approximately the same vintage...??

Chris

When my local dealer forgot to add the modifier, I drove less than 20 miles before I knew something was wrong. Stopped at the next dealer and they added it for $9US ad all was fine. I took their bill for labor and the $9 bottle back to the first dealer and had them refund me. Never have been back for service there since.

You drove over 6000 miles, should have been obvious the first time you tried to turn in a circle backing out of a parking lot. You can feel it and hear it and know right away. If that did not happen... maybe they did add it and it is simply broken now. ??? Things do break.

On a different note, unreal how society is different there form here. Getting fired for things they do themselves just to make it seem they are holier than thou is ridiculous.

tell me about it - charity event for the Southern Cross Women's association and somehow the official photo's got in to the wrong hands and ended up on a Saudi forum - lots of Arabic which when Google translated in to English was suitably fiery, even though it was on embassy grounds and therefore perfectly legal.

some of them were pushing the boat out though, it was a fancy dress party and some came as Friar Tuck and Crusader knights, very English thing to do but asking for trouble

I'll leave it at that, but I'm definitely not going to let up on the dealer and this friction modifier...I accept what you say about not hearing or feeling anything for 10k km and then it just suddently starts, but the receipt says nothing about friction modifier and thats that in my book

Regardless if Chris felt it or not, the friction modifier wasn't added and therefore the dealer should pay of it and take care of him in a rental vehicle considering their mistake. Also time to bring up the point that the ****ed up on the oil!!!!!! Get everything in writing!!!!!! Don't give it to them.....Retain it!!!!!

Make them bring you in a new axle housing and gearing not some POS from a junk yard or at least get a good housing and a fully rebuilt gearing and pinion! Your axles should be fine and be used in the axle housing. Make them install new bearings and seals at the wheel bearings because they are lubricated by the tainted fluid and therefore have ware because of the gunk lubricating them so they could go out on you.

Make them pay to do it right and enfensize that they screwed up a perfectly good rear end and therefore they should pay to give you back what you took in and you took it to the dealer to get it done right in the first place!

Being English in that country, it isn't easy to point the finger at the dealer like we would here. Especially after 6000 miles. Good luck!
