Are they really that prone to strip?? I have an 01 durango getting ready to do the front brakes.

if you are not careful, yes, if you are careful and thread them in by hand and hold the caliper weight off the bolt until its started you should be fine, however most people are in such a big *** hurry that they get sloppy and careless, that causes problems

I've seen Hexes/allen and Torx bits used. My '99 came with Torx, I got some from the local junkyard that were Hex/allen head bolts.

I had one seized in so tight it stripped on me (torx) which is why I replaced all mine with hex bolts. Much easier to replace. Neverseize!
