New engine
I purchashed a 5.9L motor from O'Reilly Auto parts, for $2,100
and paid $600.00 for installation, it has a 3 year, 100,000 mile warranty.
my old engine had 219,000 miles use 3 quarts of earl a week, so the motor was about shot, the new motor is great runs good. just FYI

David, so you are here in Indiana too eh? IRP is about 4 miles from my house.
HS, what the heck are you talking about in terms of rebuilds not being rebuilt and sold by O'R? Links for verifications?

Indydurango, yeah, I live off of Raceway Rd, near 86th st,
I purchased a longblock, I also had to buy from O'Rielly a waterpump and other accessories in order for the warranty to be effective, I didn't like that one, It cost me another $400 for the extra parts. But thats ok, now my wife has a god reliable truck, that I don't have to worry about. I replaced the trannie, about 8 months ago, and and have been working on replacing different parts of the front end in the last 2 years. While I had it down, i also replaced all the fluids in the truck.
I should be good to go this winter.

Dave,
Gotcha. I am in Brownsburg with my office on Main St.
I wouldn't worry about the O'R motor. I have no idea what HS is talking about. I couldn't find anything related to that. You are correct they have a big investment on our community.

Back in the day Auto Zone or Checkers used to sell replacement engines that were straight out of the junk yards and gave em a 1 year warranty. This was a partially re-built motor. Also you could buy a fully rebuilt motor that came with a 3 year warranty. They used to give you the options.
Partially re-built motors were just that. They would look at em and make sure everything was good in their eyes and if not then that part would be replaced. For instance a head. They were done by the salvage yard and sold as partially rebuilt motors.
This practice is well established in salvage yard rebuilds.

That link doesn't substantiate your accusation/possibility that O'Reilly sold a $2100 junk yard motor. Just the opposite. That reiterates the likelihood that is the junk/stuff you get from small potato retailers.
Not to mention that article was from nearly 13 years ago! It ended with the prediction jukyards would all but be extinct by the year 2000 with only the best funded as survivors. ROTFLMAO! Not the most credible data eh?
It goes on to only mention O'Reilly and AutoZone for smaller core parts: "Retail users have new sources like Auto Zone, Pep Boys, O'Reilly, Big A and others for their small parts needs of alternators, starters, ECMs, power steering pumps, etc.," Ackerman said."
