Default 'Nother New Guy Willing to learn!

HEY! whats happening people?

the name's Jose and I'm a proud '98 V8 'Rango SLT owner (5.2 baby!)

I've owner this car for a couple of years now and was considering trading it in for a new more fuel efficient car because lets face it, 50 bucks a week on gas SUUCCCKK!!

but then I test drove other "weaker" vehicles, and I realized that I couldn't let my baby get put out of commission and replaced by a flimsy V4. no sir. nothing pulls like this V8!

so I decided to do some mods to keep this rig in top shape! just recently purchased a flowmaster series 40 black muffler to give it the growl this rig deserves. I'm looking to do many more mods but as I said before, I'm still a mechanical newbie. I'm a car junkie for sure but I'm hoping you guys will give me some tips.

my questions:
1) whats a good entry level lift kit? looking to fit some 32 or even 33 x 10.5 on there. what will get the job done
2) I'm looking for some tips to improve power not necessarily mileage. just anything that will keep the engine running smooth not including regular maintenance check ups
3) performance mods? stuff to begin with? what are some good entry level suspension/engine mods?
4)manual conversion. is it possible???
5)anybody in the GA area know of any good place to go wheeling?

thats it for now and I hope to make some good friends here. I'm always willing to learn so please, help another fellow rango owner out!

all the best,

-Jose

Welcome to the Dodge forum Jose!
Good entry lift kit? That would be a T/S (torsion-shackle) lift, Check the top stickies topics in the durango forum- Pretty much best bang for the buck $80 or so for 2" of suspension lift- 8 full turns of the torsion bars (free) and replacement shackles in the rear ($80 or less)
If you wanted to run 33"s i'd also recomend a 3" PA body lift, cant go wrong for 3" without suspension modification. I think they run around $300 or so, i cant remember.

Short on time but the others will surely fill ya in!

ROTFLMAO

A lift?

Performance Mods?

Bigger Wheels?

Crying about bad milage?

You can push a brick through the air with a large motor and expect good milage. Add all the things you want to have to add fun and customize your ride is only going to make it worse.

Pick your path and we can help from there. Until then, let's leave fantasy land together.

If you lift it high and add wheels you mileage is going down.

If you want to dress her up and mod her then thats not going to help but you'll be happy.

I sense this is going to be a good long thread!

lesson of the day. leave the fantasy in lala land.

fair enough indydurango, I guess my questions where paradoxical but oh well, Im here to learn. anyways, Duranged408 recomended a T/S lift. I think Im gonna go with it. also, I found this Trans4mer Brush Guard for sale and I think im gonna go with it as well any comments on it?. The new muffler should be on the way by next week.

I guess what I'm trying to do here is optimize the level of fun i can have with this car. mileage aint gonna be pretty but who cares when you're having a blast. thats my main goal here and hopefully ill find some good info in this forum.

There you go! Looking good.

Many of us take the D one way or the other. Some of us go one way and then change everything again and go off in another direction.

Here is my D in photo format. She has a littler over 209,000 miles on her and still going strong.

Let me know if I can help.
