hello everyone. I'm very excited about the purchase of my 99 durango. It has the 5.2 liter. It seems to be in very nice shape with 140,000 miles. the trans was replaced/rebuilt 12,000 miles ago. I've heard thats the weak point on these. aside from the general tune-up/ plugs, wires, cap, rotor, i'm going with the AEM cold air intake. Are there any other items that should be checked/ replaced?
I'm also doing the torsion/shackle lift and 32's. are the factory length shocks long enough for this?
Thanks,
Dave

if its a 4x4 check the ball joint on the front, if they are riveted in they are most likely overdue for replacement, if they are bolted on take a closer look and make sure there is no play in them (jack the front up and grab the wheel @ 12/6 and 3/9 positions, 12/6 movement is ball joints, 3/9 is hub bearing)

Technically, the hub/bearing is all one piece. On mine for example, each front hub with the ABS 4 wheel sensor setup is about $225 each.
With that said, some have started attempting to pop out the bearing and replace it only. There is a thread hear with the details.
Good luck and keep us informed.
