Default New Belt for 2000 Dodge 5.9

Just finished with tune up and I have learned that I should probably look at the old parts first before buying new ones. Explain later in this thread.

My current question is can I go out and buy a new belt from anywhere like Advanced Auto Parts or is specific like the Mopar Plug wires and Champion Plugs?

Thanks in advance,
Joe

On my tune up, I just bought the Durnago and new he guy had taken good care of the vehicle but did not have all the records so went and did the tune up (76K). But once removing the cap it was clear that had been replaced in the not to distant past.

Here is a pic of he cap I replaed. I will keep it as a spare.

That cap looks worn but not bad I don't think. Can you take a picture closer at the contacts?

The best belt out there is a Goodyear Gator Belt. They are available at Auto Zone.

In fact I was doing some looking into mine and I found when I did my rebuild they gave me one of these. I have just over 50,000 miles on it and I think I might change it finally but it never broke!

As for your particular question tho, NO there are many good belts out there and the motors are not particular about them.

I will get the Gator belt today. Thanks,

Here are the best pictures I can get of the cap. I could be wrong but I think it looked pretty clean. Of course the only other one I have seen was in the DIY section.

Looks like good ware all together!

Thanks for getting a better picture. The main issue here is the contacts and thats the reason I asked for the better pic's.
