I have an 03’ D with a 4.7L engine, 69K miles. A couple of days ago I noticed the transmission acting strange when switching between gears. It will bang into gear when going from R to D, yet shift very smoothly from P to D or from P to R. I can barely feel the shift. The tranny works great otherwise and the fluid was recently changed at the dealer.
THe problem seems to be intermittent too - like all last night and this morning the shifts were butter smooth. Does this sound like it can be a transmission problem or may be the tranny mount?
Any input is appreciated.

 

Sounds like a trany mount to me.

 

Sounds like a mount for 2 reasons 1 the trannies behind the 4.7 are pretty good and 2 its not consistent
