Default knocking engine

Not a good sign. Somewhere around six months ago the engine started knocking upon a coldstart. Only lasts maybe 2 seconds. Did some research and apparently that's seminormal.but in recent weeks there's a knocking noise right before the trans shifts into 2nd gear.my wife is the one who drives it she 'claimed' it when we got hitched. So I don't knoe EXACTLY but I think it started abt 2-3 weeks ago. ANY help will be great, thanx guys

Oh, and for the last 3 years I've been RELIGIOUS about my oil changes. I use castrol gtx hm. But the ppl who owned it before me didn't take care of it at all. Mine may have been the 1st oil change, lol.also had to have the pump changed because all the sludge killed it.

Try higher octane fuel or change to a different fuel and at least 87 octane. Also whats your oil pressure?

I put 87 in it and the oil level usually sits just under 40.

try bumping it up to mid grade, sometimes a low octance gas will cause it to knock, and its a relatively cheap thing to try, next would be cleaning the injectors (in tank cleaner works just fine at this point)

+1 Sharps!

Runnin some SeaFoam in the fuel is good as well even though I don't like using any additives. However if I run ANYTHING it is SeaFoam.
