02' durango drivetrain noise????
We own a 2002 Durango r/t 5.9l. We are getting a loud noise sounds somewhat like the noise tires make on the highway on rumble strips, but its intermittent, and random as I cannot purposely recreate the noise. I believe it is drive train related. The first time and the loudest time we were cruising around 65mph. I've heard it a couple of other times but much quieter at lower speeds.Any guesses?
could be the bearings, i would start be locating which end of the truck is it coming from???
if its the front then start checking to make sure all the bolts are tight ect if its the rear you can check it, but there is not as much and i would look at the axle bearings on the diff or the u joint back there

I took it in to Big O this morning. It started clicked real bad this morning. They diagnosed it as a bad front left half shaft(cv). It makes me feel a little better, but the tech couldn't be a hundred percent sure if thats where the humming was coming from. I'm having the halfshaft replaced Wednesday. Do you folks think it can make that kind of noise?
