Default cruise control

my 2000 durango has 140000 miles on it. I am having trouble with the cruise control. It does not hold the speed steady. It kind of loses control and gets it back real fast. You can even see the tack going up and down. It never stops unless you are going up a hill. I saw where others were told to check the vacume line under the battery box. Do you think that could be my proplem. Also would it have left a code for this problem? thanks

could be a loose vacum line, but it is more than likely the TPS (throttle position sensor) especially if it is your origional sensor that would be my starting point
