Default Rear Hatch Binding

My 98 Dodge Durango has a problem with the rear hatch. At first it would open but seemed to be sticking. Today, it won't open beyond a few inches without binding. I don't want to force it and possibly break/bend something. Could one of the air struts be the problem? I don't see it binding on the body of the car anywhere. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Repost in the first generation Durango section as this is the general forum. I would think the gas shock is worn out and needs replaced, but the guys over in the first generation would know better,

Default Sticking Hatch

You were right, it was one of the gas struts rusted at the bottom. Hammer & Chisel & WD40 fixed problem. Thanks!
