Default Loss power but everything still running... 2002

Hi I have read through the posts for the last couple mths and I have seen anything that seemed similar. But first the background info… 2002, 4.7L, 4x4, about 83000 miles. New tranny in Dec., new O2 sensors to go on in the next couple of weeks.
The problem that I currently have as of last night is the loss of momentum while turning. It feels as if the breaks have been applied even though they haven’t. For example turning into a parking spot the power just drops away. There are no new lights, no noticeable jumps in rpm or anything else that I have notice. I checked the powering steering fluid…and it the reservoir is full the fluid is like the color of leftover coffee. Any suggests would be great … thanks!

your p/s pump could be going out. I have a 99' D and my p/s fluid is either red or clear depending on manufacturer. If its not I would certainly change the fluid.

Have you had the front gearing inspected or lubricant replaced?

I have not had the front gearing inspected or lubricant replaced... I have had it for 2 years so it is unknown to me if it was done before than. I was going to change the powering steering this afternoon... if it stops raining. Do you think it would be in my best interest to have the front gearing inspected before changing the powering steering? Thanks
