a weak battery will cause the computer to act up, might be responsible for the code (tho i have never seen it before) replace the battery and see if the code comes back

I like DuraLast batteries from Auto Zone with their 8 year warranties and and pricing! A 9 1/2 year old battery is well past expiration date!

Well I scored the Interstate battery, found an Interstate "Platinum" dealer in the area and he had 1 in stock, $121.10 with the sales tax. This thing looks like it belongs in a submarine, 47.4lbs! Didn't really take took much notice in the past just how big the Durango's battery was, anyway I'll get the brother-in-law over on the weekend to help me with it and I'll see what this does for it, especially since disconnecting the battery will clear out the codes again.

I had the same issue. Replaced IAC and TPS sensors and clean everything that was suggested. What "solved" the RPM fluctuation was making sure that the correct level of transfluid when the engine was warm and in neutral. Give it a try might solve your issue

Easy enough to check, that's a bizarre solution. How low was it on yours?

yes low trans fluid - low fluid pressure and can do odd things to the torque converter (cause it to try and lock up in park, or not unlock going to a light) which puts xtra load on the engine causing rpms to go up

Trans fluid level was fine. Changed out the battery and P0601 came back, idle is steadier than before, wanders between 600 and 900 and then will setlle to a fixed 600 but so far it hasn't done that 2000 idle since the new battery. I'm fine with it this idle now and as far as P0601, screw it! It runs fine, I'm not fixing what isn't broke not to mention the serious $$ getting rid of this code.
