if you know how to drive properly you do that yourself (i know i do it when im accelerating quickly) without the computer doing it for you, and if you run the 1/4 mile you should have OD locked out which disables the torque management anyway and gives you harder shifts so this should have 0 effect on your 1/4 mile time except maybe mentally

Is this thread still going?

Sharps NAILED it!!!!..... If you want Torque Management removed for short times then you simply engage the Tow button on the column, but I'm sure you already knew that.

I can't believe I read that this engine won't like running over 4k!

4K is practically nothing for almost any engine besides diesel.

4k is where this engine shines, I get mine up there doing hiway passing and it feels good... They way it's meant to be.

I work with an Ex-Mercedes tech and he stands firm that the 4-7 is of German design. Run it, dang it, run it!

6500 rpms is a fairly low redline, especially if you look at the red lines on cars.

my point is that the 4.7 was designed as a TRUCK engine, not a car engine, and hence it was not designed to rev high for very long, or very often, sure it can rev that high, but under NORMAL circumstances it is not necessary, it produces better power on the low end and reving higher does not gain you anything, where as on a car engine the power and torque are made high in the rpm band.

6500 is not low.
Max torque maybe at 3200, but max HP is at 4800. You can't compare this to what you call a "car engine", cause that is a broad, broad range. This is a V8, a V8. It can be run how you want to, it's not a diesel.

Like Sharps said,

This engine is made for use as a TRUCK not a SPORTS CAR. They are 2 different puppies and nothing of the same.

6500 is not low for a truck engine (yes there IS a difference btwn car and truck engines, these days it is mostly in the computer tune, but still) but compared to car engine (granted, mostly 4 cylinders) it is low.

now are you so naive that you think horsepower is what matters in moving the truck? the torque is what you need in order to move the vehicle, and the more you are making the faster you will accelerate,

someone once put it to me (ok not me, but i overheard it) this way, Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, and torque is how far you push the wall. simply put, the Torque is what actually matters when talking about moving a vehicle, the more you have down low the better.
