transmission swap question

i have a 98 5.2 L 4x4 with what i believe to be a 44re trans. is it possible to swwap it out for a 46re without any trouble?

i believe they will bolt right up, same bolts and everything, but wait for master-tech (or pm him) to chime in with a definite answer

They will bolt up but the problem will be in the PCM and flashing it. I would find another exact match first.

thats what i was afraid of thanks. has anybody here had any experience in rebuilding these transmissions? i might look at going that way in hopes of saving some money.
