Default 02 durango p0138 mystery

i had a code P0138, my durango is an 02 with cali. emissions, It has 1 cat convertor, 2 sensors, 1 up and 1 downstream i changed the upstream b/c of the code and i still have the same problem the car idles rough and often dies at idle and the same P0138 code after changing the sensor and resetting. i initially took the car to firestone for a diagnosis and they said it was an upstream or a o2 sensor fuse/relay after looking at where the manual said the relay was and finding no relay i changed the O2 sensor, could the relay be somewhere else? Are they wrong in telling me the P0138 is for the upstream cause after some searching i see its the downstream one! WTF?

the spot for the relay is empty

P0138 = O2 Shorted To Voltage

Check the install and wiring. Likely installed incorrectly and you have a melted lead wire. Also, use only OEM O2s. Bosch suck BTW. What did you use?

first i got these codes

P0420 1/1 catalytic converter EFF
P0138 1/2 O2S shorted to voltage
P0442 evap leak monitor medium leak detected
P0456 evap leak monitor 0.020 leak detected

i then found and fixed a bad hose, unhooked the battery to reset and then got the P0138 code, i took it to Firestone for a diagnosis and they said the P0138 was the upstrem sensor which i changed and the car still stalls, has poor throttle reponse and often dies at idle after researching i see the 138 code is downstream so i change it and the result is the same no change, yes the sensors are Bosch but if there is no change then both the old and new sensors must be good, Is the cat/conv bad? I tried to shake the pipe and it is too tight to move and i hear no rattling, i can find nothing wrong with the wiring

you could have moisture in the connector and start tracing wires back from the )2 sensor to the computer and find where the short is

the wiring that i can see without dropping the trans has nothing wrong with it.
found out from the dealer the car has Cali. emissions would that matter for O2 sensors?

i think most cars sold in the states has california emissions on it, im 90% sure that mine has it and mine was sold in NJ (granted thats not much less strict than CA but still) so no i do not believe you got different O2 sensors, maybe a different catalytic converter

Maybe more like 40% have it I think Sharps. I have only seen very few.

THe 02 sensors are the same but there might be more like 2 on each side. For instance, on a Cali Durango 5.9L there might be a pre-cat on each side and 1 post-cat.

Default Po138

Ority

So here are the codes I got

P0131
P0132
p0137
p0138

With the afe cai it moved teh IAC to the intake tube so i used an old sensor to plug the hole, not to good though (yes it came with a plug and i have no f idea where it is) so i am hoping that was the source of the leak, my durango also only has two sensors one before and one after the cat, is that how you tell if its california emissions i have looked all over this damn engine bay.
