i have a 46 re trans and the only way to get it out of first i have to let off the gas throw it in neutral then back to drive and hit the gas a lil for it to shift after that it shifts on its own untill i come to a complet stop then its here we go again. any ideas?

 

Based on your note about having to go to neutral to shift... have the pressure governor solenoid replaced.

Personally, I would have the trans serviced too at the same time.
