I am a 3rd gen dakota and I come to you all with a mysterious situation. I am trying to regear my dakota to 4.10. I have a 4x4 so I need gears for front and rear axle. The rear is supported by aftermarket but not the front... because the dakotas received 'reverse rotation' gearsets in 2004 for all front axles.
The ONLY way for me to get gears for my front axle (this is after 6 months of extensive research) is to get a front axle differential off a 2002/2003 durango and replace mine, then put the gears in that new housing.
So, does anyone here know of a durango that has been trashed lately that I can pick the parts from? I have been to a couple junkyards with no luck, and OEM replacement is $$$$$$. Please let me know if you have any suggestions, thanks!
