Default 1999 Dodge Durango 5.2 Upgrades- Ideas and Projects

Hey everyone I am new here but would like to get right into it with my 99 Durango, so I thought I would post something with a few of my ideas and projects to see what you all think! So here we go:

1. Straight Side Pipes.
I already have headers installed with a high-flow CAT and a Flowmaster
Super 40, but I just want more sound. So I plan on installing the
Fastman o2 Simulator and I will be running straight pipes out the sides
in front of the rear wheels.

2. Fastman Throttle Body, 50mm

3. Mopar Intake Manifold.

I already have a cold air intake installed, but I am debating doing some custom hood work and possibly installing some sort of ram-air set up. So, any comments/suggestions on any of these ideas? I plan on working on them all this summer and will post pictures as I go!

Sounds like you are on a good path but I would not cut out the CAT's. http://thefastman.com/02Simms.asp

It doesn't need to be any louder.

An overly loud vehicle does not pose as performance anymore. It simply shows the owner is a poser.

Any ideas on how to run true duals with cats installed? The reason I wanted to remove the cats is so that I could run true duals out the sides, similar to the older Corvette Stingray. Unfortunately the Durango does not have much space underneath for something like that. I saw the Fastman o2 SIM though and figured as I live in Florida I could just do that and not worry about it. Any advice?

Yea, put in two cats & run the o2 behind one of them. in cali this would fail you but if they don't look they wont know.

A a duel cat system might take longer to get the cats up to temp & could cause hit or miss code sets.

the #2 sensor has (& please, someone correct me if i'm wrong on durangos in particular) typically nothing to do with engine management, it is an emiss control component & the ecu looks at it after a pre set period of time to see if the cat is working. the cat if working perfectly will flat-line the #2 o2sensor even if the forward one fluctuates. I have never seen a cat work perfect & the #2 always seems to vary some but it should be a much lower fluctuation range than the #1 sees.

the device linked to just takes some of the o2 heater voltage & feeds it back to the ecu as an o2 reading. it is probably set to give one specific voltage but as long as that voltage is in range of what the ecu expects to see it will not code.

running no cat will not effect how it runs & the light will not come on with the sim but remember, Loud pipes do not save lives, they just annoy the crap out of everyone over 21 who does not OWN a Harley.

Besides what if you want to check up on that girl you think is cheating, she'll hear you comming for blocks.

+1 boys.......LOL

Just run a large Hi flow CAT and dual it from there. You aren't going to gain anything by true duals all the way out dude.
