transmission problem!
I just bought a 99 durango SLT. It's 2 wheel drive with a 5.9L V8.
I really need to know what other vehicles I can get the 46RE out of.
If that is the right transmission for it!! Could I use one from a ram or a Dakota or do i have to stick with the Durango? And does it matter if the one i buy comes out of a 4*4? I AM VERY CONFUSED!!
Any answers will be truly appreciated

i don't know much about durangos, but your 99 is a 46RE. you'll need a 2wd, because the 4wd has a different tailshaft. you'll need to stick with whatever years have the proper electrical connector. on the ram trucks, there is some variation between older years (96-97) and later years (00-01), so be careful of this. i believe you can use one from the dak, durango, ram, or ram van. it can also come out of a 5.2 or 5.9, but i think the flexplate is different, so stick with your original.
double check your electrical connector and overall length. if you miss either of these you're hosed.
