Will the CV joints in a 01 Durango RT just slide out of the differential or is there a special "Dodge" tool that I need.
Thanks in advance.

The CV's pop right out. There is not special tool needed.

Sometimes you need a good yank! Basically, there is a snap ring on the end of the CV shaft. The CV shaft then is placed into the spline on the axle (after the oil seal). The snap ring after inserted goes to the inside of the axle shaft then spreads out to keep it from popping out.

I have the entire wheel assemby taken apart. I also have a slide hammer tool and the axle will still not come out. It does not even budge.

I finally got it. The CV joint came out along with the axle shaft attached to it. Once out, I had to bang the *&^% out of it to separate the shaft from the CV joint. Now on to the driver's side. I may do a write up with pics for the forum.

Holly **** dude!

Please do a DIY! You can upload your pictures to www.photobucket.com Account and just insert the IMG file link code. Remember to set the pictures up in an album so you won’t move them so the pictures stay in the DIY for years.

I wish you well on this one - and I hope that this works, but my vote is still the exhaust manifolds...Chris

LOL!! The 5.9's do not have an exhaust manifold problem as much as the 4.7 engines do. Like I said before, he should be able to hear the clicking sound that you are talking about at cold start ups too as well as revving it up in park.

On my reply, I was not laughing at Chris Gorham but at Indy's reply back to Hydra.
