People have tried NGK's, Autolites, Bosch, etc. It is human nature to experiment, that is the problem. 4.7's came with the tried and trued plug and that is the Champion Coppers. If you did a search on the net about what plug type most people use with no problems, you will find that the Champion Coppers or Truck Plugs prevail. I am by no means a FAN of Champion spark plugs, hell, I always thought the only thing they were good for is lawn mowers and weed eaters. I run Champion Coppers and have never had any problems with it. A person might say that he tried Brand X and it runs fine in his engine, but will it run fine in yours? Would you take a chance on buying Brand X because they claim to be the better plug and the cost is double what a normal Champion Copper would be? Sticking with what came out from the factory in any engine will do the best for anyone versus trial and error on other brands.

Back to the basics,

Chrysler built their motors to run the OEM plugs close to perfect. They also spent 10's of Millions of dollars perfecting the way it runs not to mention most likely 10's of Millions in initial development of the motor.

Now put 2 and 2 together, who is behind the parts counter telling you what plug to buy? A business contract to push certain products. For instance, an Auto Zone employee is paid to offer you Autolite Spark Plugs first. Well the average person will buy them cause they were offered so they must be good right? WRONG! It's a contractual buisness agreement.

Do they look great? Sure, but they wont run the way the motor was built to run.

Now if you do performance enhancements then you alter the way the motor is built to run so you alter the parts to run it the "better". Now doing it just right is very hard to do with lots of mistakes. Not to mention, every motor is built just a little different with variance. What might work for one person won't for another. But, you can NEVER go wrong with OEM parts. There are some great fixes out there however.

That's why we are Mopar enthusiasts and thus the creation of these types of forums.
