What a pain
It is to put a new serp belt on a 5.9 in a Durango. My wife took the R/T to work this morning cause it was cold out and she loves the heated seats. Text's me a couple hours later and says the truck is making a funny noise and I smell burning rubber, can you come sheck it out? Get there and under the hood is a twisted, shredded Serp belt all tangled in the fan. So fifty bucks, a borrowed crescent wrench and a half hour of cursing loudly in the mall parking lot later, the R/T is up and running. Good Lord, could they have made it any tighter in there? Rant over
Replacing a belt on the 5.9 is a 3 minute process. Use a tire iron to move the flex arm inward, remove the old one and follow the sticker diagram to replace the new one.
It may take 5 minutes if you stop for a beer.
Also $50? The best belt on the market is a Goodyear GatorBack and I think it runs $29 on sale.

Yup, 54 dollars and change was the cheapest I could find here in the oil town of Hinton. Most expensive was 61 plus tax. It would have been a five minute fix if I didn't have to spend fifteen pulling tangled belt parts out first. The belt I ended up with was Prestone brand, hope it lasts.
