tune-up
Hey Guys and Gals,
I am going to give the truck an unofficial tune-up this weekend.
After a little research, I found that my 2001 durango has no fuel filter. It has an all-in-one pump/filter. Is that correct?
If that is true, can I assume that if the pump is still good, the filter should still be good? Or is this Dodges way of maiking money on a fuel filter change. Also, I read some where that it is in the fuel tank and in order to change it, you must drop the tank?
Any suggestions on spark plugs? this is the wifes DD, so I'm not looking for any high performance plugs.
Gonna do the oil/filter, and air filter as well.
Been looking for some seafoam, but little luck on that. Can only seem to find the trans treatment, anyone from northside Chicago know where I can find the seafoam motor treatment?
Anything else I should do?

You are correct, there is no replaceable fuel filter as it is all one piece. Yes you need to drop the tank to replace it. It incorporates 3 filters, pump, regulator, check valve, and level float. It is an all in one part and made to go for life or about 100k miles.
Only use Champion Plugs (regular cheapo Copper plug or truck plug) and they run under $3 a piece. Truck plugs you can find at NAPA. Gap your plugs at .040
Seafoam is a great product and I would only use Techron as a different additive. But I really hate all additives.

I found two different truck plugs at Napa.
After a compare of the two plugs they are identical except for the part # and price.
CHA 4436 and CHA 4071.
Do thses part #'s mean anything to you?
Think I'd be ok going with the less expensive one?
It's only a .20 differnece so it's not a big deal but thought I'd ask.

Got everything done...phew.
Though you'd like to know Hydra, the champion truck plug is discontinued. There are still a few Napa shops that have them, the closest to me was like 30 miles away. I saw abouit a dozen posts by you hyping them up, so stock up while you can. I had to go with the champion plus.
The seafoam was good. My wife was watching and started to freak out and thought I messed up her truck cause of all the exhaust.
after oil/filter, air filter, plugs, seafoam, tire rotation (proper pressure as well) and brake job, she is running like a champ.
I'm really surprised by the idle. I can barely tell it's running.
